Hello!
Thanks for checking out my work.
I was born and raised down in deep, dark Devon, where life is slow and beautiful but a little distant from… everything!
I started off with photography and was quickly hooked on taking still images. By the time I’d begun college, the stills camera had turned into a video camera and I was ready to escape the slow-life. So, luckily for me, London called and I spent three years studying at The University of Westminster’s film school. From an early age, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and it gave me such invaluable momentum.
My early career saw me camera-assist for a broad range of projects, and I quickly became familiar with the world of cameras and the fast-moving on-set life. Now, for more than 10 years, I’ve been freelance DoP-ing all over the world on projects ranging from short films to documentary, feature films to branded content.
I genuinely love creating interesting images. Telling stories through my visuals is a really important part of what I do. And, although I have an unconventional mix of narrative and TV work, I bring the same way of working to all of the different genres.
When I’m shooting on a narrative project, the aesthetic needs to be powerful enough to effectively respond to the script, but also needs to fit comfortably into the film as a whole. It’s a methodical way of working that not only needs the greatest attention to detail but also care and a connection to what you’re doing. My experience in TV, where budgets aren’t huge and time is precious, means that I can shoot wisely and beautifully in situations where resources are limited.
I bring a lot of energy to a shoot, and I’m a lot of fun to work with, but I also approach each project with the same dedication, attention and commitment, and always aspire to achieve the best for my clients and the team I work with. I see my job is a privilege and one I never take for granted.
